Curry Village

Settled at the heart of Yosemite, amidst the shadows of the spectacular Half Dome and Glacier Point, is a community of white canvas tent cabins that has long since been offering National Park visitors a lodging option after a hard day’s hiking or backpacking exploration.  Dating more than a century back, what started out as an inexpensive and comfortable way to go camping and spend a night or more at Yosemite Valley has created a continually bustling hub right in the middle of raw wilderness.

From a humble beginning of a dozen camping tents and a dining center shared by everybody, it grew and grew now housing 319 canvas ten cabins, 91 Signature Curry Village Tent Cabins, and a good number of wooden cabins with bath as well as standard rooms at the Stoneman Cottage.  The sample principles with which Camp Curry was established with, by David Curry and Jenny Etta Foster in 1899, is what makes the place thrive and still popular to visitors of today.

The core values that make Curry Village an amazing place to stay in are affordable entertainment for the entire family and friendly customer service.  Onsite facilities include heated outdoor swimming pool, Yosemite ice rink, amphitheatre, bike and raft rentals, and internet access at the lounge.  Strategically positioned within an ideally wooded acreage, the essence of being one with nature is never lost even with all the family fun visitors are enjoying in the middle of a panorama of breathtaking views.

A night at Curry Village gets you a great head start to a day of adventure.  As they say, no two sunsets and sunrises are ever the same, waking up to witness such a glorious unfolding while taking generous breathes of the freshest air marks an invigorating beginning to your day.  The family would surely enjoy cruising through the scenic roads of Yosemite especially the Tioga Road that winds to the breathtaking Tuolumne Meadows.  Other than the going out on leisure strolls or picnicking and lavishing at all of Nature’s wonders, there are also other facilities in the park that visitors can go to to learn about the cultural and natural history of Yosemite Valley.

Outdoor activities abound beyond the camping grounds of Curry Village and all-throughout Yosemite National Park.  The network of hiking and backpacking trails offer varying challenges from easy to hard routes that would surely thrill the experienced again and again.  Conquer the majestic granite domes and peaks by mountain climbing your way to the top where the most sublime vistas await.  On winters, ski through and explore Glacier Point and enjoy some of Yosemite’s best winter treats.
